Choose from two different coaching and pricing options.

When you work with me, I can help you turn your writing or copywriting skills into a high-earning freelance BUSINESS.

I can also work with you on your work habits and productivity issues.

But that's just the start of it. Each coaching client has different priorities, and I'll customize my input and advice based on your own specific needs.

Who do I work with?

Some of my clients are just starting out. Others have been in business for five or ten years and want help with moving their business forward.

I even have one client who isn't really a writer at all. He just wants my input as a "virtual business partner" as he builds his online business.

"Nick's coaching has been incredibly valuable to me for several reasons. He has challenged me into clarifying my niche and how I articulate it – this is HUGE! He also has boosted my confidence and given me a very positive foundation – now I know I don’t have such an uphill battle for repositioning myself and earning more for what I do! I enjoy his sense of humor and down-to-earth demeanor. It’s been a perfect coaching match for me."

How much does it cost?

I offer two different options for coaching:

1. Three Month Business Builder. For anyone who is really serious about building a highly profitable and enjoyable freelance business, I recommend a three-month engagement and charge $4,500 for the three months, payable in advance.

You get: One hour of personal coaching by phone each week and unlimited email.

2. One Month Hurdle Jumper. For when you need short-term help to get over a particular hurdle or obstacle in your business. This one month engagement costs just $2,000, also payable in advance.

You get: One hour of personal coaching by phone each week and unlimited email.

And one "discovery" option:

One hour. If you just want to just put your toe in the water first, and chat with me about the most important challenge facing your business right now, you can engage me for a one-time, one-hour phone consultation for just $185. (After that, you can choose either the one or three month coaching option.)

To get started, email me here and I'll get back to you.

"Nick Usborne has helped me really see my strengths and weaknesses in marketing my services. In a very short time, he has taken me to a new level. Nick pointed out some assets that I hadn't been fully exploiting. That gave me a lot more confidence. What a relief it is having someone to consult with who is focused on my success. It is such a blessing."

Why would a freelance copywriter even need a coach?

The very quick and simple answer to that question is this: Freelancers work alone, and rarely perform at their best without some coaching.

The same goes for top athletes.

And movie stars.

And the CEOs of large companies.

Athletes, actors and company leaders all have coaches. They may work in teams, but all these people ultimately succeed or fail according to the level of their own performance.

It’s the same with freelancing.

Good coaching can reveal strengths, abilities and opportunities you’re not even aware of right now.

What will I do for you?

Before getting into the details of this coaching service, let me explain what I can do for you...and what I can’t do.

One way to describe this is with an analogy.

Imagine you are the Captain of a large ship, ready to leave port, navigate your way down a river, out across an estuary and into the open sea.

You’re the Captain, and it’s your ship.

But before leaving your berth you take on a Pilot who knows the way like the back of his hand. He has navigated the river and estuary a thousand times. He knows the currents and where the sandbanks are. He’s there to guide you. And once you are on course in open water, he will return to port.

I’m your Pilot.

In other words, my role as a coach is to share my experience and expertise, and guide you.

But you’re still the Captain.

I’m simply going to let you know which currents you can catch to help you move faster, and where the sandbanks and rocks lie beneath the water’s surface.

Think about this analogy carefully, because it describes clearly what you can and can’t expect from this program.

I’m not going to tell you what you SHOULD do or MUST do.

I’m simply going to help you achieve what you want to do.

This may not be like other freelance business coaching programs you have come across.

I know there are some coaching programs out there that offer a short-term and more structured service.

That’s not what I do. I don’t give you a set plan to follow.

My task is to listen to you...to understand where your strengths and interests lie...and to guide you towards building a business that gives you real pleasure and makes you a substantial income.

It’s a subtle process. And it takes time. The advice and guidance I offer will be drawn from my own experience of almost thirty years as a copywriter and twenty five years as a freelancer.

Over that period I have got many things right, and my fair share of things wrong.

And while it may sound like a bit of a cliché, I have learned more from my mistakes than from my successes.

It’s this experience that I offer you.

"Just wanted you to know how happy I am with your mentoring method. You quickly helped me clarify my copywriting and career goals and suggested several very "doable" ways to immediately begin reaching them. Actually, I thought we were going to only talk about copywriting, but we covered so much in our first meeting. Thanks for sharing your experience and advice so generously. I'm very glad I made the investment in your training."

How much of my time will you get?

My coaching is by phone and email. There is no fixed time you are “allowed”.

We’ll work by phone and by email.

We’ll work on your strengths, and maybe unearth a few you didn’t know you had.

We’ll talk about your weaknesses, and find ways to minimize their impact.

We’ll make sure that you are working in the niche that holds the most potential for you.

We’ll explore ways in which you can market your services more effectively.

We’ll look at how you price your services and make sure that your time is spent profitably, every day.

We’ll look at ways to increase your productivity.

This is a continuous, fluid process and as each week passes we’ll build on the progress we have made. The benefits become exponential...with each session building on the one before.

Suddenly you’ll find that the change has become transformational, and your dreams for the future will take on a whole new clarity.

How quickly will you make back the coaching fee?

That’s going to depend on a lot of factors.

Some coaching engagements will last just for one or three months. Others will continue for longer.

The speed at which you start making more money in your copywriting business will depend on how quickly we find clarity in your purpose and goals, and how effectively you take positive action based on what you learn.

That said, quick wins can happen at any time.

“Nick has an uncanny ability to listen to all the angles while still cutting through to the heart of the matter. I hired him as a writing coach, but his extensive knowledge of e-commerce, content site development, and affiliate marketing have been an unexpected but marvelous bonus. In terms of return on investment, Nick “paid for himself” in the very first month. My online sales are booming, I just landed a lucrative writing contract, and have a renewed focus and energy that will continue to guide me for years to come. My only regret in hiring Nick is not finding him sooner!”

I’ll share with you everything I have learned over the last 30 years.

While my focus is on helping you find the best way forward for yourself, I’ll also be happy to share every success I have had during my own 30 years as a copywriter.

I can tell you...

- How I won clients like AOL, MSN, Intuit, Wells Fargo Bank, The Getty Foundation and many others.

- How I market my freelance business without spending a single penny on promotion. I have never made a cold call. I have never sent a sales letter. I have never placed an ad for my services.

- How I got a publishing contract with McGraw-Hill NY, one of the world’s biggest business book publishers, with a single email.

- How I got my foot in the door and became an expert speaker at conferences, and then went on to speak at major corporations like Disney, Novartis Pharma, Yahoo! and others.

Decision time...

If you would like to get started right away, or simply ask me some questions before making your final decision, begin by emailing me here.

I will get back to you within 24 hours.

I look forward to working with you, and finding ways to help you dramatically grow you freelance copywriting business.

"Nick Usborne might be the freelance copywriting career coach for you if you're looking for someone with a wealth of experience (both online and pre-Internet) who will give you ideas on how to turn your goals and preferred methods of working into long-term success. Unlike some others in this line of work, he's open-minded and client-focused.
