Whatever the next step in your freelance business, execute it with speed and energy.

When you decide to take action, how fast and furious are you?

For myself, I take a fair bit of time thinking about any new project or idea. I weigh the pros and cons. I make sure that when I do take action there is a reasonable chance that my time will be well spent.

Then, when it is time to act, I act very quickly and with a great deal of energy.

In other words, once I have made a decision, I make it happen.

Sure, I’ll pause and review from time to time.

Sometimes I’ll look at a project I am working on, review the time I have spent, the money I am making and the future opportunity...and then dump the whole thing.

Some ideas just don’t work out.

But whether something works or not, I find out faster than a lot of people, because I execute on the idea very quickly.

How about you?

Talking with other freelancers and solopreneurs I often notice that people take a long time over the execution phase. I’m not sure why. But I do know that slow execution will slow down the growth of your whole business.

The faster you execute, the faster you’ll find out if you’re on the right track. Once you know that, you can either dump the idea or move on.

Most important of all...fast execution means you have time to try a lot more ideas.

Let’s say I try five ideas that fail before I find one that works. Well, the faster I execute, the faster I’ll find that one out of five ideas.

Working at speed enables you to test more ideas, make more mistakes, learn faster...and then find the one idea that will double your income this year.

Also, when you work at speed you also build momentum.

Let’s say I’m spending 80% of my time copywriting for clients and 20% of my time working on writing or publishing projects of my own.

When I work at speed on the 20%, I’ll build momentum, and that energy will also transfer over to the 80%. Speed and energy in one area will help you in every area.

Try the fast and furious approach. You’ll get ahead a lot faster.

If nothing else, it is a lot more interesting than being slow, ponderous and predictable.

Where’s the fun in that?
